You've probably heard this a lot, but while we're primarily using it to refer to frequency and time, it also refers to keeping your content uniform and steady.

So when building out your content strategy, I recommend looking at your plan of action in three steps. Plan,post, evaluate. In the planning phase, the first thing you need to think about is sticking to a posting cadence that is sustainable. It's important to stick to a schedule that fits in your workflow, which also means taking the time to interact with your followers so that your business remains active, trustworthy, and receptive to new followers.

Once you figure out what kind of posting schedule you can maintain, then you can start drafting what your overarching message is going to be. Keep in mind what your business or brand has to offer and figure out how you can stand out from the crowd. Think about what makes your brand special and present that by educating your users or inspiring your users. Maybe you can put a unique spin on what others are doing or putting a fresh spin on an old tactic.

But remember that providing value is your goal here. So try to align your social media content strategy with these concepts. Once you've planned out your content, you'll want to organize that content in a social media content calendar. A content calendar lets you set a visible plan on what kind of content is going to be published and when. When building your calendar, there are a few elements to keep in mind. Date, topic, messaging, hashtags, if used here and image.

Once your calendar is set, you can then begin to post. And most of these will post automatically. This should go without saying but after you post your content, you'll want to engage in the comments and responses. The last phase here is evaluating your content. Take a look at the data to see which posts performed the best, but keep in mind here that different content pieces have different objectives. So when it comes to analyzing your social media content strategy, the KPIs you should keep track of our impressions, the amount of time people saw your content.

Engagements, the amount of reactions, comments, and shares that post got. And clicks, the amount of time, your links in your content get clicked. Evaluating and measuring your social media content strategy helps you to optimize against what is working well and iterate on content that may not be resonating as well with your audience. So remember these steps and you will be well on your way to creating a sustainable content strategy.
