New order notifications

You can create and edit email notifications to let you or staff know when a customer places an order. You need theOrderspermission on your account to make changes to order notifications. Learn more aboutstaff permissions.

Add a recipient for new order notifications

  1. From your Shopify admin, go toSettings>Notifications.
  2. In theStaff order notificationssection, clickAdd recipient.
  3. From the first drop-down menu, select the notification recipient from the following options:
    • Select电子邮件地址, and then enter a new email address that you want to send the order notification to.
    • Select a staff to send notifications to their email.
  4. If you want to create notifications for orders from a particular POS location or from the web, then select a location from the list. You can selectAllto create notifications for all orders. To add notifications for more than one specific location, you need to create them as separate order notifications.
  5. ClickAdd an order notification.

After you've set up a new order notification for an email address, you can test it by clickingSend test notification. A test notification will include fake order and customer information.

  1. From your Shopify admin, go toSettings>Notifications.
  2. ClickNew orderto open the template in the online code editor.
  3. At the bottom of the template, above{% endif %}, add:

  1. ClickSave.

Find the order number or ID

You can find the order ID :

This will return something like:

Include special instructions

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go toSettings>Notifications.
  2. In theEmail Templatessection, clickNew order.
  3. At the bottom of theNew orderemail template, add the following code:

  1. ClickSave.

Disable a notification

Most order, shipping, and customer account notifications are sent to customers automatically, and can't be disabled. When you are processing an order, you can disable a few of the notifications for actions on that order:

  • Order canceled: sent automatically to the customer if their order is canceled
  • 订单退款: sent automatically to the customer if their order is refunded
  • Shipping confirmation: sent automatically to the customer when their order is fulfilled
  • Shipping update: sent automatically to the customer if their fulfilled order's tracking number is updated
  • Out for delivery: sent automatically after orders with tracking information have been out for delivery. Available only for shipments that have a tracking number from Fedex, Canada Post, DHL Express, UPS, or USPS.
  • Delivered: sent automatically after orders with tracking information have been delivered. Available only for shipments that have a tracking number from Fedex, Canada Post, DHL Express, UPS, or USPS.

Disable theOrder cancelednotification

When you cancel an order, you can disable the notification so that the customer won't receive an email notification about the cancellation. Learn more about取消订单.

Steps:

  1. From theOrderspage, click the order number for the order that you want to cancel.

  2. ClickMore actions, and then selectCancel order.

  3. Enter the details for the canceled order.

  4. UncheckSend a notification to the customer.

  5. ClickCancel order.

Disable the订单退款notification

When you refund an order, you can disable the notification so that the customer won't receive an email about the refund. Learn more aboutrefunding orders.

Steps:

  1. From theOrderspage, click the order number for the order that you want to refund.

  2. ClickRefund, and then enter the details for the refund.

  3. UncheckSend a notification to the customer.

  4. ClickRefund.

Disable theShipping confirmationnotification

When you fulfill an order, you can disable theShipping confirmationnotification so that the customer won't receive an email with the shipping details. Learn more aboutorder fulfillment.

Steps:

  1. From theOrderspage, click the order number for the order that you want to fulfill.

  2. ClickContinue.

  3. Enter the details for the order fulfillment.

  4. UncheckSend shipment details to your customer now.

  5. Complete the order fulfillment.

Disable theShipping updatenotification

When you add or update tracking information for an order that is already marked as fulfilled, you can disable theShipping updatenotification so that the customer won't receive an email about the update. Learn more aboutadding tracking information.

Steps:

  1. From theOrderspage, click the order number for the order that you want to update.

  2. In theFulfillmentssection, click the...button, and then selectEdit tracking.

  3. Enter the new tracking details.

  4. UncheckSend notification email to customer.

  5. ClickSave.

Disable theShipment out for deliveryorShipment deliverednotifications

You can disable notifications so that the customer won't receive an email when the shipping status changes to out for delivery or delivered. This applies only to shipments with a tracking number from Fedex, Canada Post, DHL Express, UPS, or USPS.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go toSettings>Notifications.

  2. In theShippingsection, deselect the checkbox forShipment out for deliveryorShipment delivered.

Delete a staff order notification

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go toSettings>Notifications.
  2. Scroll down to theStaff order notificationssection.
  3. Click the trash can icon next to a recipient's email address to delete the notification.
