About the role

About the role
We are looking for a Sr. Solutions Engineer to join as a founding member of our Incubation Sales team.

Incubation Sales isn’t your average sales team, and as a result, we are searching for someone who isn’t your average Solutions Engineer. At Shopify, our team is responsible for early stage revenue play design; leading the innovation center for new or experimental go-to-market motions, and the development of product sales plays and commercial models that can accelerate Shopify’s growth.

In addition to being an expert-level Solutions Engineer, this talent needs to be excited about operating in ambiguous spaces and on the cutting edge of product/strategy where answers aren’t always readily available, but where we can shape the future of our business.

  • Help qualify and close deals, from a technical requirements perspective, alongside Sales and development partners/agencies
  • Engage with clients through requirements discovery and strategic consulting sessions
  • Create customized product demos and proof of concepts for client demonstrations
  • Become an expert on Shopify’s application ecosystem and integrations, including unreleased products that are a part of our experimentation set
  • 文档observations and generate insights from client-facing engagements which will contribute to our go-to-market recommendations or strategies
  • Document common use cases and technical solutions that can be shared with our enablement team in order to accelerate win rates for new revenue motions
  • Align closely with product to share feedback on new offerings, released features and roadmap
  • Mentor and coach the sales team on technical aspects of Shopify’s product and platform
  • Act as a SME on projects with cross-functional teams, especially when incubated motions are graduated to the mainstream revenue organization

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical pre-sales solutions engineering or consulting experience
  • Strong executive presence, capable of effectively articulating and advocating ideas to stakeholders, driving consensus and influencing decision-making processes
  • Solid understanding of Cloud-based technologies and SaaS fundamentals
  • Deep understanding of technical strategy as it relates to operating and growing commerce businesses (eComm, retail, loyalty, supply chain, etc)
  • Experience integrating with enterprise eCommerce technology stacks (ERP, WMS, OMS, PIM, etc)
  • Hands-on skills of Front-End web development (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Liquid)
  • Strong API knowledge (REST and GraphQL) for enterprise integrations.
  • Great troubleshooting and analytical skills combined with the desire to tackle challenges head-on
  • Experience in an early-stage startup environment or with working with early-stage product launches
  • Strong ability to prioritize work in a high velocity environment

  • Deep knowledge of the Shopify platform

  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Github)

  • Experience working a Professional Services or Agency environment
