About the role
On the Professional Service Team, Solutions Architects engage on high value, strategic, and technically complex projects to provide technical solution design, build and migration oversight. You will ensure that any solutions built meet Shopify’s high standards for quality, meet the needs of the merchant engagement, and enable our largest merchants to launch, grow and succeed on the platform.
You’ll get to do things like:
- Engage with stakeholders from our enterprise level merchants and partners to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Consult on solution design from the front-end to the backend by leveraging different experts on the team. Ensure all moving pieces fit well together and are accepted by relevant stakeholders.
- Work on a wide range of project sizes and types, from end-to-end site implementations to focused technical and product consultations.
- Act as an expert on Shopify’s application ecosystem, integrations, platform and design/development processes.
- Own and update architecture and technical migration documentation throughout the duration of an engagement to ensure solutions are accepted and understood by all stakeholders.
- Work with internal Shopify Product and RnD teams to ensure successful implementation of new features for enterprise merchants migrating to Shopify.
- Mentor and coach other merchant-facing teams at Shopify on technical aspects of our platform.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Architecture, Enterprise software implementation, or similar.
- Experience working with highly technical and executive level audiences, in a consultative role.
- Highly adept at gathering, inferring and interpreting complex business requirements from merchants and translating these to technical requirements and solutions both in and outside of the Shopify platform.
- Solid understanding of Cloud-based technologies and SaaS fundamentals.
- Strong API knowledge (REST and GraphQL) for enterprise integrations.
- Great troubleshooting and analytical skills combined with the desire to tackle challenges head-on.
- Deep understanding of technical strategy as it relates to operating and growing commerce businesses.
- Passion to build things from the ground up and share your expertise with the broader team by creating and contributing to team knowledge, resources and expertise.
- A great live and video conference presence with confidence commanding a room, running workshops and interacting with executive level stakeholders.
- You have the ability to prioritize competing demands and goals.
- You are comfortable with ambiguity.
- Willing to accept up to 25% international travel for work

- Deep knowledge of Shopify platform, business, and structure to drive decision making.
