Love this app for customising recommending products, the filter section needs a lot more customisation for me to be able to consider using it but being able to customise recommended AND matching products has been great for my customers & helping them find what they need visually. The one big downside is the automated recommendations, they make hardly any sense & I can't turn them all off - I have to do it one by one then replace all of them manually, it's taking me 4-6 minutes to do each product & I am dreading having to go through it again when I release a new collection. Great especially for an app I don't need to pay extra money money for, but time consuming
Thank you for the review. Our team is actively working new features for filters, so we hope those will meet your needs in the near future :) For automated recommendations: You can use the Admin's bulk editor to change the "Related products settings" metafield for your products. This should be a lot more efficient for you; more details here: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/search-and-discovery/product-recommendations#edit-product-recommendations-in-bulk-with-metafields
I downloaded the app and was impressed with its user-friendly interface. It's so intuitive that I would even be willing to pay for it. However, there is a significant flaw in the filtering feature that renders it useless for our needs.
The problem lies in the static nature of the filters. For instance, if I select 'Brown' under the 'Color' filter and 'L' under the 'Size' filter, the app returns 'nothing found.' This is because the filters are not dynamically linked, meaning that the app does not take into account the relationship between the two filters.
这将是伟大的,如果应用程序有一个动态的filter behavior where choosing values from different filters wouldn't result in the frustrating 'nothing found' message. For example, it would be helpful if selecting 'Brown' would automatically eliminate 'L' from the 'Size' filter, preventing users from encountering a dead end.
Overall, the app has great potential, but the filter issue needs to be addressed to make it more practical for users. I hope the developers can implement a dynamic filter behavior soon.
Thank you for the review - happy to hear you find the app so useful! Regarding your request for filters to be dynamically linked: It is already possible for Shopify themes to show how many results a filter will return before it is applied, and those counts are updated as customers apply additional filters. If your theme isn't already taking advantage of this feature already, we recommend contacting your theme's developer for assistance on implementing it. You can test this feature on your own store by downloading any of Shopify's free themes and previewing it in your store as an unpublished theme.
Excellent app, and in my experience, usually much easier to use native apps from Shopify. The only thing I think it's missing is a "Re-direct" section, where you could manually say if someone searches for "X" re-direct them to a URL.
Like searching "Delivery", you could re-direct them to the delivery page rather than return 0 results.
Also, the ability to manage the filters a bit more, something like sort type, vendor by A to Z, Z to A, most results to least etc etc

Response to Shopify feedback:
同意的苏ggestions work well for the most part, however, there are instances where we no longer sell a brand for example, it would be nice to manually direct people to a "missing brand" page explaining where it's gone.
Other scenarios might be people searching "finishes" like "Brushed Brass" I would like to ideally URL redirect that search to all of our products with the colour filter "Brushed Brass" ticked for example.
Thank you for your feedback. Predictive search allows you to add multiple types of resources incl search terms, products, articles, pages, collections as suggestions. Engaging with those suggestions will re-direct to the respective resource.
这个程序正是我们需要的。我们发现许多customers do the majority of their browsing going directly through the related items rather than navigating the entire site. Now people are spending a lot more time browsing uninterrupted, and we're able to show far more relevant things (like things with a similar ingredient list)... and not things that seem completely random because other people have bought them together. Not being able to customize related items was one of my biggest peeves about Shopify, second only to a lack of one-page checkout. The synonyms didn't seem to work when I first installed it, but all good now. People make typos or misspell things and come up empty-handed. Previously I would sprinkle some common misspellings in descriptions or switch between using a hyphen or not, so people would always be able to find something. Eww. Problem solved. :) I can't speak to the filter settings - we use tag filters, so they're not relevant for us. Only complaint is that I can't seem to sort the products that I've added related items to. It would be nice to be able to search or list alphabetical. It's a real pain to browse page after page to track something down if I want to update it.
Hi, thank you for your feedback. Tag filtering is now available. For more advanced filtering capabilities, we recommend to use metafields.
I used this app to control Shopify's suggestions of alternative products as organically it wasn't doing a great job. The app works well and easy to set up and implement. It would be great though if the developers could address a couple of issues. The list of product recommendations set up appears oldest 1st. I'd prefer it to be shown the other way around so I can see where I've got up to without having to scroll through pages of ones set up. Also, a facility to 'duplicate' some recommendations to copy to other source products would be a nice time-saving feature. And finally on the website a carousel would be useful so more than 5 of the 10 recommend products can be seen.
我用这个程序主要用于产品推荐and will base my review on that. It‘s great that Shopify has added a product recommendation API and is actively developing it. It recently updated the feature to include complementary products. Having a built-in product recommendation feature is really valuable and I’m using it quite a bit. However, the way you interact with the product recommendations is pretty time consuming. My biggest problem at the moment is the pagination and the fact that when you browse to a product already listed and click on it to edit, once you finish the pagination is reset to page 1 so I need to browse again to get to the same group of products I was working with. Having a filter on the existing products would help a lot here and also persisting the filter or the pagination. Also, I add the same recommendations to a lot of products so having a way to add/edit in bulk would be extremely helpful to me. The Product Recommendation feature/API would get a 5-star review from me but unfortunately this app has its shortcomings.
Solid app on the whole, considering the functionality it provides at no extra cost - however I've experienced one quite frustrating issue:
I use metafields to filter my products, and I've found that sometimes this app does not stay in sync with the my products. The metafields are definitely there and consistent between products, but only a few of them show up when selecting the filter. Brute forcing it by removing and re-adding the metafield on those products over and over again does work eventually and makes this app update, but it's quite a frustrating process doing this and trying to figure out which products this app has missed.
Hi, there - sorry to hear you're experiencing some difficulty with metafields. The Search & Discovery app doesn't sync a copy of the store's product metafield information, instead it presents the information Shopify has stored. There may be an issue with how metafields are being saved. To properly troubleshoot this, we recommend contacting Shopify Support where they can gather more information about how metafields are set and updated on your store.
because it helps a lot and makes it easy for people to find things on my website and more very happy with this app and eager to learn everything about it so that it will be easy for me to discover new things about products and more can't wait!
Good beginnings of a decent app, and always better to use one created by Shopify directly in the admin. The new related items + complementary items section is brilliant. Requires a few more things to be a perfect solution, however: 1. Colour grouping
The colour filter is not quite ideal as it shows "all colour variants" so your filter will show "White" "Gloss White" "Matt White" etc, rather than just the group "White" which is what customers would expect to see. 2. URL Re-directs - Someone searching "Nike", being directed to the Nike page, rather than Nike results. 3. Stop words
Words that don't add anything to relate to products like "discount" or "cheap" to be ignored from search results. 4. Analytics
Things like 0 results and most searches etc and where to improve.
Hi, thank you for your feedback. Tag filtering is now available. For more advanced filtering capabilities, we recommend to use metafields.
** [Updated Review] I have tested the sorting on our site and it is now sorted based on the order of the metafield values list. I appreciate your team quickly finding and correcting this bug!
** Replying to Shopify Response: (Thank you for your feedback! Metafield definitions have a “Limit to preset choices” feature, where you can predefine which values the metafield can accept and sort them manually using drag and drop. If you use that metafield as a filter, Shopify will apply your “preset choices” ordering to the filter values on your storefront. Head over to your shop settings, and look under “Custom data”, that's where you manage all metafield definitions. Find your “Size” metafield definition, check the box “Limit to preset choices” under “Rules”, and set all your Size values there in the order that you want them to appear on your storefront, including the ones that use a “-” or “/”.)
-- I already tried this before making this review. It does not work as your described. I even checked again, after reading your response. This only sorts it when choosing a metafield value for a product, it does not manually sort it in the Shopify Search & Discovery app. Maybe I am missing something? **
-- So far, this app works great, especially for free. But, please add the ability to sort metafield values within the filter section manually. We have a "size" metafield and want it to sort from smallest to largest ascending. It is automatically sorting it by value, but if there is a "-" or "/" for fractions it does not sort correctly. Not sure if it would sort correctly if we used decimal values instead of fractions, but we want to display them as fractions. Manual sorting would be great.
[Update to response] Thank you for raising the problem! It has now been fixed. The values in your Size filter should be in the same order as your preset choices now.
